till Oregon is home.

Oregon.

everytime someone finds out I’m moving out of california next month, I get the same response:

“oregon?? why in the world oregon?”

why? why not?

“because california is the best!!! and it rains all the time in oregon and everyone there is a hippie or a mountain freak”

false. false and partially false.
california is not the best. and if you think that then maybe you deserve to stay here your whole life. why anyone would want to stay in one place, one state, one country their whole life and not travel to see all the beauty the world has to offer is beyond me. it does not rain all the time- yes it does rain a lot, but it isn’t an unpleasant rain. and for the record; I like the rain and I hate the heat. yes- there are a lot of hippies out there, but uh, have we met? not sure if there’s people I belong around more than hippies… there also happens to be a lot of intelligent people, people who would rather go to a book store rather than go to a club, people who get exercise by hiking in a forest - as opposed to LA “hikes” up a mountain surrounded by mansions and dead grass- instead of people who go to the gym to get ‘discovered’. the people I met while in oregon were some of the most interesting people I’ve ever met… people who can hold a conversation without mentioning the club or jersey shore or how they have a big audition to be an extra in some tv show. LA may be for some people, but it isn’t for me.

im moving to portland, oregon at the end of february and I have never been more sure or happier about any decision I’ve ever made in my life. I know this will be great for me. I know I won’t live in oregon forever, but for now, it’s right.
